In an insightful webinar about the ongoing research, developments, and insights into celiac disease, Dr. C.S. Grewal discussed how the index of suspicion in celiac disease helps doctors identify it when there are more than 300 symptoms attributed to it. Citing a study conducted by DMC, Ludhiana, the doctorshared with attendees that the rate of celiac disease in Punjab is 2%.
During the webinar, Dr. Grewal shed light on several aspects related to celiac disease, including diagnostic measures being practised, the healing of the small intestine post-diagnosis, refractory celiac disease, other GI disorders, new medical treatments to celiac disease, leaky gut, and the reasons why celiac is so common in Punjab.

Practising currently in Punjab, Dr. C.S. Grewal has an MBBS and MD in Medicine. He is the DM (Gastroenterology) at DMC, Ludhiana and a Consultant Gastroenterologist who has been actively conducting awareness camps and campaigns for quite some time. Dr. Grewal has aced Fellowship Interventional Gastroenterology, Medanta -The Medicity and SCE – Gastroenterology and Hepatology (UK), MRCP 1 UK.
Notably, Dr. C.S. Grewal has also previously served as a Senior Resident at PGI, Chandigarh.
